Sir — This refers to the article, “Czar of Colombo cost ‘Raja’ his Sri lanka” (January 20) by Ashok K Mehta. Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s “historical legacy of war crimes” should have referred to the legacy of ancient lankan kings like Dutugemunu, with whom he is often compared.
The article also reports that President M Sirisena would make Mr Rajapaksa ineligible for contesting parliamentary elections. This is incorrect. Domestic probes are likely debar him from contesting parliamentary elections. The errors are regretted.
