Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Fortunes have nose-dived” (December 17). The predicament of SpiceJet should be a lesson to all private players who are high on ambition but low on planning. Granting the civil aviation industry, an infrastructure status, will allow secured financial inflow. Income tax exemptions for a fixed period, and a definitive longer credit payment period, putting in place uniform fares for all airliners, with a set maximum and minimum fare, could also help. The airliners should always keep collateral security ready for a crisis. looking at external investors may not be a bad idea.
