Sir — On every occasion, when it was thought that the relationship between India and Pakistan had begun to improve, Pakistan betrayed India’s trust. India is, therefore, right in cancelling the Foreign Secretary level talks that had been scheduled for August 25, after Pakistan’s envoy in New Delhi began to hold talks with Kashmiri separatists.
It is appalling that despite Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh asking Pakistan to choose between India and the separatists, Pakistan preferred the latter. No purpose will be served in any kind of bilateral talk unless Islamabad reciprocates the hand of friendship that had been extended by New Delhi when it invited the Pakistani Prime Minister to the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Pakistani High Commissioner’s meeting with the separatists from Kashmir is a blatant interference in the internal affairs of India. Will Pakistan allow Indian leaders and diplomats to meet insurgents or opposition leaders in BalochistanIJ
