Sir — The Allahabad High Court has stated that caste-based politics is not good for the country and banned caste-based political rallies.
But Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi continues to exploit caste sentiments and criticise Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati. He has indirectly said that Ms Mayawati was not the only Dalit leader (the Congress too bats for the Dalits, he hinted).
It is sad that political parties exploit people on caste and religious lines, and play with their sentiments. Modern India should be above caste-politics. Caste has no relevance in the India of the 21st century. The stratification of people along caste lines is a political gimmick and has done nothing to improve the lot of Dalits. Politicians who exploit the caste factor are enemies of the nation.
