Attacking the Narendra Modi-led Central Government on the issue of inflation, former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Sunday said that the Prime Minister was making big claims but the ground reality was different.

Addressing a Press conference in Shimla, Sheila Dixit said that Narendra Modi Government had lost the trust of people as the common man was suffering due to high inflation. The Government, however, was claiming to have brought the inflation down, said she.

She said that prices of most of the edible items like Onion, Tomato, Pulses, lPG and Petrol were higher under NDA regime than in the UPA’s tenure.

Accompanying AICC spokesperson Rajiv Tyagi and other Congress leaders, Sheila also demonstrated certain kitchen items which have witnessed sudden hike in prices recently.

Sheila claimed that this was the first time, when the price of non-subsidized gas cylinder was increased by Rs 93 in a go.

She also targeted the Modi government on petrol and diesel prices.

Sheila said that Modi had been perturbed with Rahul Gandhi’s rise and he has been giving irrelevant statements about Congress.

Commenting on the language of the Prime Minster, Sheila said that Modi’s language at times has lowered the dignity of Prime Minister’s office.

Appreciating the development of Himachal Pradesh under Virbhadra Singh’s government, she said that none could even think of such progress.

Accusing Modi government of gagging media, the senior Congress leader said that Modi government had been dictating media for selection of news.

Earlier, the opposition parties used to accuse former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi of imposing Emergency but presently, the country was facing an undeclared emergency under Modi government, she alleged.

She further said that Modi had promised a rail link between Delhi and laddakh before becoming Prime Minister but nothing had been done in this regard. Modi had also assured apple producers of the state to increase import duty on imported apple but after passing three and a half year in office, his government has done nothing on the import duty issue, she added.
