A 39-year-old woman tried to commit suicide on Tuesday morning by consuming phenyle after her husband scolded her for not keeping fast on Karwa Chauth in Kalyanpuri area of East Delhi. Police have recorded the statement and an FIR has been lodged. The victim’s husband, Vijay, who is a daily wage labourer will soon be arrested.
Police said that the victim, identified as Mahesh Kumari lives in the Kalyanpuri area along with her husband Vijay and the couple married in 1991 and they have four children. The couple had a minor tiff on Sunday following which both of them were crossed with each other. Due to this, Kumari did not observe fast which further irked Vijay.
