A 47-year-old IT professional was arrested in a moving city bus in Bengaluru for molesting another IT professional recently. Thanks to a newly launched app by the city police called ‘Know Your Police Station’ which saved the woman who used this app in her cell phone to alert the city police who have arrested him in a moving bus.

The woman who works for an IT company was returning  home in a BMTC bus when the incident happened.

The guy, who was sitting behind her, started misbehaving with her and started troubling her throughout her journey. However, the alert woman used the app to inform the poli-

ce and the accused was nabbed.

After series of incidents of rapes and attacks on women, Bengaluru police have launched apps to help woman in distress and also introduced mobile apps to aide women. This is the first incident after the new app was launched and the  police are confident of  reducing such incidents.

The police said the attacker was sitting in the seat behind her on the crowded bus. Alert to what he was doing, the woman immediately made use of the recently launched safety app ‘Know Your Police Station’ and lodged a complaint with Bellandur Police Station.

Having acquired the contact number of the concerned police officer, she took things forward and a special patrol team followed the bus and arrested the man.

Bellandur Police Inspector Victor Simon alerted a Pink Hoysala that was patrolling an area the bus was passing through. The Hoysala team tracked the bus on Outer Ring Road and arrested the man after the woman identified him.

Police have filed an FIR and a case was filed against Madhusudhan under Section 354 of the IPC. On Thursday, he was produced in the court and sent to 14-day judicial custody.
