Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday gave a call for “Parivartan” in 2019 general elections, saying her State led by the Trinamool Congress would lead India to a BJP-free era “devoid of communal politics, political arrogance and scams.”
Picking up from where she had left at Gandhi Maidan in Patna where she joined a lalu Prasad rally to launch a blistering attack on the NDA Government in Delhi, the Bengal Chief Minister continued on Monday saying time had come for a reverse countdown which would see the saffron outfit out of power in 2019.
“Those who had set their eyes on Bengal should keep in mind that Bengal led by the Trinamool Congress will pave the way for a Parivartan (political change in Delhi) in 2019,” she told a rally organised to celebrate the foundation of Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad the students’ arm of the Bengal ruling outfit.
“They (BJP) are trying to dreaming of winning Bengal but they should better save Panchkula and Uttar Pradesh before setting eyes on our State,” Banerjee said adding the Centre did nothing save delivering high-sounding speeches.
Though she would not name the BJP top leadership Banerjee said, “The Government up there does nothing except rattling out high-sounding speeches. But they should know that the people want performance and not tall speeches” adding Trinamool Government had been delivering despite the “spiteful treatment we get from Delhi which has blocked funds required for the developmental works.”
Reminding that a day was going to come sooner than later when the “BJP would be decimated under the weight of its own scams,” Banerjee said the secular parties of the country would unite to bring about the downfall of the Modi Narendra Modi Government which was “arrogant, highhanded and discriminatory in nature.”
There were some communal parties (read BJP) which were only thriving by dividing the electorate she said. “These outfits have no business but to spread communal rumor, engineer communal clashes so that they can reap political benefit,” she said warning “we will not allow any communal riot to happen in Bengal.”
Banerjee’s speech is seen as a tone-up message to the party rank and file before the panchayat elections. “Some parties are trying to wrest Bengal by fanning communal politics but they will not be successful in doing so. They will soon see the outcome of their dirty politics in the panchayat elections.”
Alleging that Ram and Baam (BJP and left) had teamed up to unsettle her she said in 2019 both the left and the extreme right would be obliterated from the State’s politics.
