Vijayvargiya takes a dig at Rahul's abroad trip

BJP General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya  on Tuesday took a dig at Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi on his proposed trip abroad saying as a  child he too would go to his grandmother's house during the summer vacation.

Rahul  said in a tweet, "Will be travelling to meet my grandmother & family for a few days. looking forward to spending some time with them!"

Soon after the tweet surfaced in the social media,  Vijayvargiya made the sarcastic statement. "Hum bhi bachche they jab garmi ki chhuttiyon mein nanihaal jaate the (We were children when we used to visit the grandmother's house during the summer holidays)," the BJP leader was quoted as saying by ANI.

Vijayvargiya further said  that the country and its farmers should not look towards Congress leader  as the latter does politics to celebrate picnics.

"Rahul ji se aap desh ki ya kisaan ki chinta ki apeksha na karein wo raajneeti karte hain picnic manaane ke liye (Do not expect Rahul ji to care about the country or its farmers. He does politics to celebrate picnics)," he said.

The foreign holidays of Congress Vice-president , set to be the President of his party later this year,  have often invited sharp barbs  from the leaders of the  ruling party. It was alleged in the criticism that Rahul was a part-time politician.

In early 2015, he had taken a 57-day sabbatical that led to criticism that his heart was not fully in the work he has been tasked with by his party. Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala, however,  defended Rahul's trip saying it signifies Indian culture. "Rahul ji is going to meet his 93-year-old grandmother. It's Indian culture to take care of ageing parents  and grandparents".
