Victory of people's power, says NaMo

BJP’s campaign committee chief Narendra Modi has described UPA’s decision to carve out a separate Telangana State as a “victory” of people’s power.

“Today we pay our respects to all those who struggled & gave their lives for a new State of Telangana. This is a victory of people’s power! Due to the power of the people, the Congress is forced to do in the last few days what it shied away from doing in the last nine years on Telangana,” he wrote on Twitter.

“Instead of facing the people of AP all these years, the Congress hid behind committees & reports. Will they apologise to people of AP for thisIJ” he asked. Terming the decision on creation of Telangana as “late”, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh said it would be a viable State. “I welcome creation of Telangana, although it is a late decision (by Congress).... The three newly formed States — Jharkhand, Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh — have been successful and viable States. Telangana will also be a viable State. People of that area also favour this,” Singh told reporters here.

J&K CM Omar Abdullah, however, warned giving in to the demand of creating a separate State was a “dangerous thing” and it could act as incentive for similar demands.
