Giving an emotional turn to its poll campaign, the BJP has launched ‘Kisan Maati Tilaq Pratigya campaign’ under which farmers will be asked to take a pledge that they would help Prime Minister Narendra Modi to speed up development in Uttar Pradesh.

launched on Friday, the scheme is a brain child of BJP national president Amit Shah. Under this campaign, senior leaders are sent across UP and have been asked to hold meetings at the villages. There they will put tilak of ‘maati’ (soil), brought from different fields of the village on the forehead of villagers and ask them to take a pledge to bring BJP to power in UP.

“During the meeting, discussions were held on farm policies of the Union Government and how these have helped  the farmers in UP. Farmers were told on how the State Government has created problems in implementation of these schemes,” State general secretary of BJP Vijay Bahadur Pathak told ‘The Pioneer’ on Friday.

Pathak had himself gone to Rae Bareli on Friday afternoon to have discussions with the farmers on various development issues. “This is an innovative method where you discuss policies of present State Government and educate villagers about Central policies,” he said and added that party would go for a positive campaigning in this elections.

“We will reach out to people with a positive vibe and certainly get their full support to form  the next Government in the State,”  he said.

Pathak said that besides, the BJP has also drawn up a mega programme to highlight the poor law and order situation in UP and its failures in other fields through posters.

The BJP had recently concluded a major pre-poll campaign with four Parivartan Yatras, OBC Sammelan, Yuva Sammelan and Mahila Sammelan culminating with Modi’s rally in lucknow on January 2.
