Agra was also well connected by rail link. Agra also attracts from India and abroad  tourists to historical monuments. Deen Dayal Upadhaya was educated in Agra and he was a thinker and philosopher who promoted egalitarian political ideology. His life was devoted to the reconstruction of independent India based on Indian ideas and philosophy and hence the civil terminal of Agra airport be named after Upadhaya, the resolution said.

The second resolution said that Gorakhpur was a famous city of east India and a prominent centre of religion and spirituality  and also centre of devotion of saints from Sikh, Buddhist, Muslim and Jain faiths. Nandi said that naming the new civil airport terminal after a great personality will boost tourist, trade and development of the region.

leader of Opposition Ram Govind Chaudhary however suggested to the Speaker that both resolutions should have been moved by MlAs from Gorakhpur and Agra, instead of the Minister.
