A prisoner, who was booked by Surajpur Police on charges of murder, died at Ghaziabad's Dasna jail on Thursday. The Superintendent of the jail, Viresh Raj Sharma, said the inmate, Karamvir Singh, was a resident of Surajpur in Greater Noida.
Being a dreaded criminal of the area, the Gangster Act also applied on him. He was detained at the jail since September 23, 2011.
At about 4.00 am on Thursday, he complained of chest pain for which he was rushed to the jail hospital from where he was referred to district MMG Hospital where the attending doctors declared him dead on arrival.
A judicial magisterial inquiry has been ordered in the case, added Sharma.
