Two children, both 10-year-old, were sexually assaulted by their neighbours in two separate incidents in Delhi on Monday. In the first incident, a girl was lured by Ram Preet (40) while she was playing outside her house at Gandhi Nagar area. The accused gagged her mouth and raped her during which she started bleeding and passed out. “Fearing that she might die out of the excessive bleeding the man left the child outside her house and fled from the spot,” police informed.
The girl’s mother told police that she immediately took her to a hospital where the doctors confirmed rape. The locals caught Ram from a nearby shop and handed hime over to police. The victim, however, was later referred to AIIMS where she is still recuperating. In the second incident, a boy was sodomised by his neighbour Satish (40), who later tried to strangulate him.
Police said Satish took the child with him on the pretext of fishing. He told his parents that they will be back before night, but instead, Satish took him to a secluded place in Ghumenhera, where he sodomised him. “The child fainted due to pain, and considering him dead, Satish tried to strangulate him, to make it look like a case of suicide, and hanged him from a tree near the pond. However, a passerby noticed and called for help,” said a senior official.
