Police in Kashmir have arrested a truck conductor who ferried two lashkar-e-Tayyeba (leT) militants to Udhampur before they attacked a Border Security Force (BSF) convoy killing two personnel.

The truck conductor is likely to be handed over to National Investigation Agency on Wednesday or Thursday.

The conductor Sabzar Ahmed Bhat alias Khurshid was arrested from Kulgam area of south Kashmir.

The NIA is probing the August 5 Udhampur attack. The agency had announced a cash reward of Rs2 lakh each for information leading to the arrest of Sabzar and two other over-ground workers (OGWs) of leT including Fayaz Ahmed Itoo alias Fayaz Welder and Fayaz Ahmed Ashwar alias Setha.

Sabzar, Welder and Setha are believed to be involved in a conspiracy to launch fierce attack on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway. Sources said they sheltered Abdul Rehman alias Abu Qasim, a resident of Bahawalpur in Pakistan and Mohammad Naveed alias Usman in south Kashmir for several months.
