TRS' Op Attraction lures Cong MlA

Omer Farooq

The ‘Operation Attraction’ of the ruling Telangna Rashtra Samiti continues to yield results as another legislator of the Congress joined the party on Sunday.

K Yadaiah of the Congress from Chevella constituency of Ranga Reddy district joined the TRS in the presence of Chief Minister and party president K Chandrashekar Rao. Several other Congress leaders and workers also joined the TRS along with the MlA.

The Chief Minister welcomed Yadaiah by offering him a pink colour Khandwa or shoulder cloth as a mark of felicitation. This has come close on the heel of three Telugu Desam Party’s MlAs from Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and from Warangal districts joining the TRS.

The TRS has been weaning away the MlAs and other leaders of the Congress and the Telugu Desam Party especially in those districts and areas where its organisation is weak and needed a boost to its strength.

The party has been laying special emphasis on strengthening its position in the State capital Hyderabad and surrounding Ranga Reddy district ahead of the coming Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.  The party is expected to join hands with the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen in GHMC elections to keep the TDP-BJP combine under check.

There were indications that the State Government has been planning to bifurcate the GHMC to keep the areas of Andhra settlers out of the main civic body areas.
