After hoisting the pink flag over the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti appears all set to wrest one more Assembly seat from the Opposition Congress.

Narayankhed Assembly constituency in Medak district where by-election was necessitated by the death of Congress MlA Kishta appears to be heading for a clean sweep by the ruling party if the exit polls are to be believed.

Authorities have made elaborate arrangements for the counting of votes in the constituency on Tuesday. Returnign Officer Venkateshwarulu said that the counting of votes will start at 8 am and the result was expected by noon. The constituency had recorded 82.75 per cent polling on Sunday.

While Congress fielded Sanjiv Reddy, son of the deceased MlA Kishta Reddy, the TRS pitted Bhupala Reddy. The by election assumed significance as the constituency falls in CM K Chandrasekhar Rao’s native district Medak. Apart from the major irrigation minister T Harish Rao personally leading the campaign, the CM also participated in the campaign seeking support from the people for his development and welfare program.
