Union Minister of State for External Affairs, VK Singh today reiterated that the Indian Army had operated along the Indo-Myanmar border in June this year and inflicted causalities on northeastern militants even as he said that those persons, who acceded their briefs must be questioned.

On June 9 this year, the Special Forces of the Indian army had launched an operation along the Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur and claimed to have inflicted significant causalities on the northeastern militants, who were holed up there. The operation came in the backdrop of the NSCN (K)’s attack on an Army convoy on June 4 at Chandel district of Manipur that killed 18 soldiers and injured 11 others.

“The official statement of the Additional Director General of Military Operation (ADGMO) stated that there were operations along the Indo-Myanmar border. Some persons in their exuberance claimed that the Indian troops had operated inside Myanmar and that those must be questioned,” said Singh, who was in Guwahati on Wednesday to attend an awareness meeting on MUDRA scheme.
