Despite a ban on public speaking and holding Press conference for two months in Assam, former VHP leader Pravin Togadia on Wednesday said the BJP-led Government in Assam has failed to deport the illegal Bangladeshis from the State and suggested that Indian Army must capture a portion of land in Bangladeshi and settle 50 lakh illegal Bangladeshi if the neighbouring country refuses to accept them.
Togadia met Guwahati Police Commissioner, Hiren nath before addressing the media.
The veteran leader, who had recently floated Aantarshtriya Hindu Parishad (AHP) arrived in Assam capital town with black cloth tied in his mouth said in protest against the Government’s move to gag his freedom of speech and said the BJP Government came to power both in Centre as well as in Assam with a to deport 50 lakh illegal immigrant.
“However, in last two years only 17 such foreigners have been deported. Around 7,000 bigha of land of Sattras (vaishnavite monastery) is encroached by illegal immigrants,” he said addressing the newsmen at the AHP office in city.
“No work permit must be issued to illegal immigrants. If Bangladesh does not accept the 50 lakh people, Indian army must occupy a portion of land in Bangladesh and settle these people there,” he said.
“When I came to Assam I was confused if the State Government is run by Congress leader Tarun Gogoi or the BJPIJ The BJP has become the Congress here. What Tarun Gogoi did to Hindus and its leaders is done by the BJP. The BJP is now doing Muslim appeasement and is busy hoisting illegal immigrant,” Togadia added.
When asked about the bitter Opposition to Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 in Assam, he said, “Hindus coming from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan must be settled in different States of India. One State must not take the entire burden. We are ready to work with the Government in this regard, form committee and assist in settling these people.”
Togadia said, “While my right to free speech is curtailed, Bangladeshis are welcomed. I have been in public life for 32 years and addressed thousands of public rallies and there is no instance that after my speech there has been law and order situation.”
