People’s power will lead Trinamool Congress to victory and the party would play a dominant role in making the national Government in Delhi, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said.
Addressing a panchayat election rally in South 24 Parganas the Chief Minister said her party had the ability to run Delhi. “In coming days Bengal will show the way to Delhi” she said adding her party “would run Delhi if need be as we know how to run a Government.”
Banerjee who claimed that her Government had brought a record change in the state of affairs in Bengal in just two years time predicted general elections would be held in a few months’ time.
“Elections are barely 3-4 months away and the new coalition that would come to power after that would decide how things would run in future” Banerjee said. The Chief Minister had a fortnight ago floated the idea of a Federal Front with the help of non-Congress and non-BJP parties.
The Chief Minister claimed her party had ushered in a true democratic system in Bengal in the past two years and vouched she would carry out the good works in days to come. “We have topped in 100-days’ work scheme. We have ensured 10 lakh jobs. The industrial and agricultural situation is excellent in the State despite non-cooperation from the Centre” she said reminding how the Centre was taking away Rs 25,000 crore as interest on debts left by the previous left Front Government.
lambasting the Opposition for belittling her image Banerjee said “they have been complaining about falling law and order situation and rising incidents of rapes but these are only few and isolated incidents that some people are trying to focus because they do not want to see a person from an ordinary family in power.”
