The Trinamool Congress has strongly reacted to Narendra Modi's "rate card" charges that the Prime Minister brought on Tuesday apparently against the Bengal ruling outfit for its alleged involvement in the multi-crore and multi-departmental recruitment scam.
Alleging that the Prime Minister had "stooped so low that he has no regard for basic political decorum" senior Trinamool MP Saugato Roy said that Modi should first inform the nation about the number of jobs he had given to the people.
"When he came to power he had said that he would give two crore jobs … now it is his turn to reply as to how many jobs he has given to people whom he had shown the dreams of Acchhe Din (good days)," Roy said.
Launching a scathing attack on the Prime Minister the TMC leader said, "We are bringing charges against his suspicious dealings with Adani … has he given any answer to that … he has promoted Adani and in return how many jobs have they created … the Prime Minister should first give a clarification about this." Making a circuitous remark on Tuesday, Modi had referred to a "State" in India where jobs were sold according to "rate cards" a la foods sold in the restaurants.
Saying that some dynastic parties were selling jobs for cash he said "On the one hand you have parties which have a rate-card for jobs, while on the other hand we are working to safeguard your bright future… Much like the restaurants where you have rate cards for foods in these States they have rate cards for jobs of sweepers, drivers, clerks, teachers and so on."
"Rate-cards crush your abilities, talents, and dreams... These parties snatch away from the common people the opportunities to move forward," the Prime Minister said. He was apparently referring to the multi-crore and multi-departmental job-for-cash scam in Bengal that has apparently put the Mamata Banerjee Government in great trouble.
In a vehement reaction Roy dared the Prime Minister to name the Government and the leaders who had taken money. "I dare him to drop the names … if he has courage he should give the names … but here we bring a clear charge against his Government for effecting a massive job cut in the Railways compromising its security … the recent accident in Odisha is a case in point," the TMC leader said, adding there was no rate card in Bengal.
"All this is a creation of his own team of Enforcement Directorate and CBI that follow his orders," Roy said, adding Modi was the worst Prime Minister.
