The Maharashtra government has assured Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff of full support in the investigation into the firing at his car in Mumbai, with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis promising strict action against those responsible.

Police have formed 15 teams, comprising personnel from the Mumbai Crime Branch and local police, to identify and arrest the assailants, an official said.

Shroff, 36, escaped unhurt after gunmen opened fire at his car near Pushpa Park in Mumbai’s Juhu area on Sunday evening. His driver, identified as Firdaus, and an autorickshaw driver, identified as Chauhan, sustained injuries and were taken for medical treatment, police said.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office, Fadnavis spoke to Shroff over the phone on Sunday and assured him that the accused would be traced soon.

“We are all with you. We will track down the accused soon. Do not worry,” Fadnavis told the actor.

The chief minister, who also holds the Home portfolio, sought details of the incident from Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti and directed him to expedite the investigation and take strict action against those responsible.

A forensic team visited the crime scene to collect ballistic evidence, inspect the vehicle and establish the number of rounds fired. Police are also examining CCTV footage from the surrounding areas to identify the assailants and determine how many people were involved.

A viral social media post attributed to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for the shooting. However, police are yet to verify the authenticity of the post or independently establish any connection between the gang and the attack.

The incident has also triggered a political confrontation, with opposition leaders accusing the Fadnavis-led government of failing to maintain law and order in Maharashtra.

Shroff, born Jai Hemant Shroff on March 2, 1990, made his acting debut with Heropanti in 2014. He later starred in films including Baaghi, Baaghi 2 and War, establishing himself as an action star in Hindi cinema. He is also associated with Matrix Fight Night, a mixed martial arts promotion he co-founded in 2019.
