Three men arrested in Haryana over their alleged role in the firing incident involving actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai were remanded in police custody until October 28 by a court on Friday.
Ankit Khatar, Sameer Khatri and Jatin Panchal were arrested in Sonipat, Haryana, on October 21. Police suspect they were part of the conspiracy behind the October 18 shooting in Mumbai’s Juhu area. Shroff escaped with relatively minor injuries, while two other people were wounded in the incident.
The three accused were brought to Mumbai on transit remand and produced before Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate D S Khedkar, who ordered their police custody until October 28.
According to the police, the accused had different roles in the alleged conspiracy, including arranging logistics, transferring money and procuring weapons.
Police told the court that Khatar had carried out reconnaissance and shared information with the co-accused who allegedly opened fire. He had also provided the previously arrested accused with information on how to cross the border after carrying out the crime, police said.
Sameer Khatri and Jatin Panchal were allegedly in contact with wanted accused Anil Pandit and were involved in procuring weapons, according to the police.
Pandit, 32, is an alleged associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang who is believed to be operating from the US. He had claimed responsibility for the October 18 attack on the actor in a social media post.
Mumbai police have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act, including charges related to attempted murder and other offences. Ten people have been arrested so far in connection with the case.
