Throw out BJP, Cong, DMK lock, stock and barrel: Jaya

Kumar Chellappan

Battle for the 39 lok Sabha seats from Tamil Nadu and the lone seat from Pudussery reached new heights on Tuesday with AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa unleashing a verbal blitzkrieg on the BJP, the Congress and of course the DMK for letting down the people of the State on various issues.

“We want to install a non-BJP and non-Congress Government at the Centre which would take care of the genuine interests of Tamil Nadu. The State has not received justice from any Government in the last 17 years,” said Jayalalithaa making it clear that there is no love lost between her party and the BJP.

Stung by the criticism levelled against the AIADMK by BJP’s PM candidate Narendra Modi on Sunday at Chennai, Jayalalithaa criticised the saffron party for ignoring the crucial interests of Tamil Nadu.

“The BJP’s manifesto is silent on various problems faced by Tamil Nadu. The party has not referred to any of the burning issues like the Cauvery water, the lifeline of Tamil Nadu. They are also silent on the sufferings of the fishermen who venture out into the sea. They do not have any solution for the vexatious Mullaperiyar Dam issue’ pointed out Jayalalithaa on Tuesday while addressing election rallies at Arani and Vellore seeking votes for the AIADMK candidates.

She asked the electorate to throw out the BJP, the Congress and the DMK “lock, stock and barrel” for letting down Tamil Nadu. “The DMK has only two points to tell the people of Tamil Nadu. They want to defeat the AIADMK and decide who should be the next Prime Minister,” said Jayalalithaa in a reply to DMK chief Karunanidhi’s declaration that his party would decide who should be the next Prime Minister of the country.

“The AIADMK will part of the non-BJP and non-Congress government at the Centre which is certain to give priority to the problems of Tamil Nadu. The DMK which was in power at the centre under various dispensations furthered only the interests of the Karunanidhi clan,” declared Jayalalithaa.

She wanted the people of Tamil Nadu to ensure that the BJP,  the Congress and the DMK candidates lose their securities in this election which she declared as the most crucial election held in the country.

The AIADMK chief’s speech on Tuesday put to rest all speculations spread by the Communists, the DMK and the Congress that her party would align with the BJP in the post-poll scenario. The CPI and the CPI(M) walked out of the alliance with Jayalalithaa for her “failure” to criticise the BJP and its prime ministerial  candidate Narendra Modi.  kumar
