In the midst of the spiritual fervor at the Maha Kumbh 2025, a three-year-old child saint, Shravan Puri, has become the center of attraction and devotion. Shravan Puri, who was offered by his parents at the sacred Dhuni (fire pit) as a three-month-old infant, now accompanies his guru brother, Ashtakoshal Mahant Sant Puri Maharaj, at the Juna Akhara.

The story of Shravan Puri began three years ago when a couple brought their three-month-old child to the camp of Santosh Puri Maharaj.

Placing the infant at the feet of the saint near the Dhuni, they offered him as a divine gift after fulfilling a vow.

Santosh Puri Maharaj blessed the child, applied a Tilak on his forehead, and named him Shravan Puri.

Now three years old, Shravan Puri has returned to the Maha Kumbh with his guru brother to attend his first Kumbh Mela. Under the care and guidance of Ashtakoshal Mahant Sant Puri Maharaj, the child saint has captured the hearts of devotees with his innocence and spiritual aura.

A Child Loved by All

When repoeters visited the camp, they found Shravan Puri surrounded by devotees and saints, all drawn to his innocent charm.

The young saint spends his day in devotion, playing with his guru, and captivating visitors with his divine demeanor.

Ashtakoshal Mahant shared the story of Shravan Puri's arrival, explaining that the Dhuni at their Siddha Peeth is a place where devotees pray for children.

In gratitude for their fulfilled prayers, some offer donations or, in rare cases, dedicate their children to the service of the ashram.

Shravan Puri's parents, from a wealthy family with vast property, frequently visit to see their son and express their happiness with his upbringing under spiritual care.

Despite his tender age, Shravan Puri follows a disciplined routine. He wakes up at 5 a.m., bathes, and spends half an hour worshipping his Guru and God. He then plays and interacts with saints and devotees throughout the day. "Children are the form of God, which is why everyone loves him," says Ashtakoshal Mahant, adding that Shravan Puri never cries.

Shravan Puri has also begun his education. He attends school and receives religious training at the ashram. Plans are underway to enroll him in a Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya, where he will delve deeper into Sanatan traditions and become a scholar of the Vedic scriptures.

A Miraculous Child

Ashtakoshal Mahant describes Shravan Puri as a child with extraordinary qualities. "His behavior indicates that he might have been a saint or a great soul in his previous life," he says. Devotees visiting the Juna Akhara believe that God resides in children and see divinity in Shravan Puri's presence.

The young saint's preferences also reflect his spiritual nature. He loves eating fruits instead of chocolates or toffees and enjoys spending time with his Guru and Guru brothers.

Ashtakoshal Mahant acknowledges the initial challenges of raising a child in an ashram but credits the support of devotees for making it easier. "With the blessings of God and the devotion of followers, we are able to provide Shravan Puri with a life of spiritual discipline and care," he says.

The tale of Shravan Puri, from being offered as a divine gift to becoming a beloved child saint at the Maha Kumbh, continues to inspire and attract devotees, adding a unique spiritual dimension to the grand event.
