BJP national president Rajnath Singh on Wednesday assailed the idea of a Third Front in the run up to the general elections in 2014, saying that it would not be acceptable to the people of the country.
Asserting that the BJP will form the Government at the Centre after the general elections, Singh said that only the BJP was able to provide a stable Government with a clear majority during the premiership of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
“Neither will the Third Front provide a stable Government at the Centre nor it can ensure good governance,” Rajnath said in blunt terms on the sidelines of a book release function at the State BJP headquarters here on Wednesday evening. He said, “The people of the country want a stable Government with a clear majority.”
The BJP national president released a book on legendary freedom fighter Subhas Chandra Bose- “Subhasbad - Eka Antaranga Adhyayan” in Odia written by senior BJP leader and former Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly Rama Chandra Panda. Rajnath was in Bhubaneswar along with his senior party leader lK Advani and Odisha In-charge Chandan Mitra among others to attend the reception ceremony of the marriage of State BJP president KV Singh Deo’s daughter Nivritti.
Rubbishing the allegation by BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik and Congress that the BJP was communal, Singh countered that Congress was the biggest communal party and had been playing communal card all along to cling to power since Independence.
“India now wants a Congress-free Bharat,’ he said and adding that the dream of the people can only be fulfilled by the BJP.
Slamming the Congress for its misrule and scam, the BJP national president said the country has witnessed economic disparity during the Congress regime which has ruled for a maximum period. The party had failed in the diplomatic level and also both in internal and external security, he said.
Asserting that BJP is the only party which has never entered into any alliance with the Congress, Rajnath clarified that his party since inception had neither asked for the support of the Congress nor taken its support any time to form Government.
