Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar would face justice and “pay the price” over what he alleged was ‘vote chori’ (vote theft).

Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, joined the Congress’s ‘Goy Rakhon Yatra’ in Margao, walking alongside party workers and leaders before addressing a gathering.

“The entire country knows what is happening. Gyanesh Kumar implements ‘vote chori’, Amit Shah operationalises it, and Modi Ji does the whole planning,” Gandhi said.

He also referred to the more than 45 defamation cases he said had been filed against him, arguing that no case had been initiated against him over his repeated allegations of vote theft against the Prime Minister.

“I have more than 45 defamation cases against me. But from every stage when I say Modi does vote chori (theft), no case is filed against me. Because they fear that if a case is filed, it will become a legal hassle and they will be entangled in the mess,” he said.

Gandhi asserted that the Congress was committed to protecting the Constitution and said Modi, Shah and Kumar knew they could not escape accountability.

“PM Modi, Amit Shah and CEC Gyanesh Kumar will face justice and pay the price for what they have done,” he added.

The Congress leader also criticised the state of education in the country, saying India had once had a world-class education system but that pellet guns were now being used against student protesters.
