With the constitution of Telangana State Public Service Commission and a notification of the recruitment for Government jobs likely very soon, the main Opposition Congress has started building pressure on the State Government to fulfil its promise of 12 per cent reservations each to minorities and Scheduled Castes.

Mohammed Ali Shabbir, deputy leader of Congress in legislative Council has urged the K Chandrasekhar Rao Government to implement its promised 12 per cent reservations in the first job notification of the TSPSC.

The State is implementing 4 per cent reservations for the backward Muslims at present but the TRS has made an election promise to increase it to 12 per cent and also bring the quota for the Scheduled Tribes to the equal level.

Pointing out that Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes constitute 21 per cent and 12 per cent of the State population and minorities 14 per cent, Shabbir demanded that the job notification should clearly mention the separate 12 per cent quota for both minorities and the STs.
