As part of Government’s ‘link West’ policy, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will visit Egypt next week to hold bilateral talks with her counterpart Sameh Hassan Shoukry. She will also call on President of Egypt Abdel Fattah Al Sisi and meet Nabil Elaraby, Secretary General of the league of Arab States.

“The Minister’s visit to Cairo will provide an opportunity to review the entire gamut of our bilateral and multilateral relations and to exchange views with the Egyptian leadership covering whole range of issues of mutual interest,” the External Affairs Ministry said. In Cairo, Swaraj is also scheduled to deliver a public address at the Diplomatic Club being hosted by the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs.  India and Egypt have been close trading partners and nearly 50 Indian companies are operating in Egypt. Trade between India and Egypt during between April 2014 and March 2015 was $4.76 billion.  The two countries have deep cooperation in cyber security, micro and small enterprises and solar energy. India is keen to expand deep cooperation in counter-terrorism activities.
