The Ministry of External Affairs is working out a way to bring back the distressed Indian workers back home after they were duped by a placement agency. About a dozen youths from eastern Uttar Pradesh, reportedly, had to spend more than a fortnight in a bus on the outskirts of Dubai before being helped by some Indian expatriates who arranged for their accommodation.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday tweeted that she has received a report from the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia on this. “I have got the report from Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia. They contacted Embassy in October 2015 with a request to leave Saudi Arabia. The Embassy provided a lawyer who is fighting their case. The next date of hearing is January 6, 2016. Since the exit is provided by Sponsor of the company, they are working for intervention of the local authorities,” Swaraj tweeted.
The Minister further tweeted that “the embassy will resolve the matter soon. The Embassy has also contacted their Recruitment agent in India who is reaching there. They have mobilised the community for shelter.”
Meanwhile, another Indian national named Kumar Akash has sought help from the Government complaining torture and denial of wages by his employer in Makkah. He has complained that his employer is not allowing him to return India. The man had posted his distress call video on the youtube and sent a link to Swaraj. “Akash — Maine ye video dekh liya hai. Tumari poori madad ki jayegi. Maine Saudi Arab mein apni Embassy ko bol diya hai,” Swaraj tweeted. (I have seen the video. You will be provided all help. I have asked embassy in Saudi Arabia).
