Malayalam cinema’s superstar Dileep, arrested on July 10 for the alleged conspiracy behind the gruesome attack on a frontline actress in February, on Thursday sought bail once again in a court in Angamaly near Kochi even as MC Josephine, chairperson of the Kerala State Women’s Commission, said she had been getting messages of threat to her life in connection with the issue.
The First Class Judicial Magistrate Court in which the trial in the actress attack case is to be held is likely to consider his application on Saturday. This is the fourth time that Dileep, lodged at the Sub Jail in Aluva near Kochi under judicial custody since his arrest 65 days back, has approached the judiciary for bail. He has approached the court this time on the ground that he has already spent 60 days in detention, which his lawyers argue is the maximum period he should spend in custody considering the gravity of the charges slapped on him.
Meanwhile, Kerala Women’s Commission chief Josephine said she had been getting messages leveling threat to her life for the past two months. She said she had started receiving the threats after the commission booked PC George MlA, chief of the Janapaksham party, for making extremely defamatory comments against the attacked actress.
