Suicide toll hits 4 as man ends life in Beed

PNS

The suicide toll in the ongoing Maratha reservations agitation went up to four on Tuesday, with one more youth committing suicide in Beed district of Marathwada region.

Reports reaching here said that one Abhijit Deshmukh hanged himself to a tree near his home at Veeda village in Khej taluka of Beed district.

In a suicide note recovered by the police from his pocket, Deshmukh said that he was committing suicide over the delay in   Maratha reservations, piled up bank loans and lack of money to purchase drugs for his ailing family members.

A graduate in science, Deshmukh was unemployed and his family had not repaid loan taken from a bank.  He had reportedly told his friend that in the absence of Maratha reservations, he had not got a job and that he was not getting loans to set up his business owing to the already piled up loans.

The police are examining if the suicide note left by Deshmukh is genuine.

Deshmukh’s suicide came two days after one Pramod Jaising Hore-Patil ended his life by jumping himself in front of a running train at Mukhundwadi near Aurangabad.

Earlier, two persons —Kakasaheb Dattareya Shinde,  and Vishwanath Sonaware — had committed suicide on the Maratha issue. While Shinde had plunged into a river from a bridge near Aurangabad on July 23, Sonavane who had consumed poison on July 24 died at the hospital in Aurangabad the following day.
