In a recent conclave of Vice Chancellors hosted by the Delhi University, seven Central universities have decided to create common platforms for student mobility, credit transfer and deliberated on the modalities of a common entrance test for Central universities. The meeting took place in two committees which were made by Minister of Human Resource Development Smriti Irani.

Media coordinator of DU, Malay Neerav, on Wednesday said that the conclave of vice chancellors of seven central universities was to deliberate on the dual issues of evolving an India centric ranking system for all central universities. “Additionally, it was on the issue of recommending a common entrance test and common curriculum for the central universities. It is learnt that a great deal of progress has been made on both the issues and the two committees expect to make their final recommendations to the Minister in a short period of time,” added Neerav.  “The recommendations for a ranking system seem likely to include parameters in tune with the needs and strengths of Indian institutions of higher education and yet be acceptable at international level,” he said.
