A gang member of dreaded dacoit Babuli Kol, Sharda Kol fell to the police bullet during an encounter with a Special Task Force team at Matiha village of Manikpur in Chitrakoot on Sunday night. The slain brigand carried a reward of Rs 12,000 and was the prime accused in the killing of sub-inspector Jai Prakash Singh during an encounter on August 24.
The police confirmed that a 315 bore rifle and some cartridges were recovered from the encounter site. However, some of his aides managed to flee during the encounter. The district police later started a combing operation to nab the other gang members which ended on Monday morning.
