Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahto on Wednesday reviewed preparations for the Assembly’s Foundation Day Ceremony, scheduled for November 22, and decided that the event would be held in a simple manner this year in view of the recent demise of several personalities associated with the state’s political sphere.
At a meeting with Assembly officials in his office, Mahto discussed preparations, the programme schedule and other arrangements for the ceremony. The proposed special session of the Assembly on November 25 and 26 was also taken into consideration while deciding the format of the Foundation Day celebrations.
The meeting agreed that the traditional felicitation ceremony marking the Assembly’s Foundation Day would be held as planned. It was decided that the felicitation ceremony and all other events would take place in the Assembly’s Central Hall.
Officials discussed the need to keep the celebrations restrained while ensuring that the significant occasion was observed appropriately. The programme’s format was also reviewed in light of the upcoming special session.
Assembly officials present at the meeting included In-charge Secretary Ranjit Kumar, S. Wajih Bunty, Kundan Kumar Singh, Gurucharan Sinku, Sanjeet Kumar, Anup Lal, Kiran Suman Bakhla, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Vishnu Paswan and Rao Dipendra Kumar Yadav, among others.
The Jharkhand Assembly Foundation Day is observed to mark the establishment of the state legislature. This year’s programme will retain the felicitation ceremony while keeping the overall celebrations simple.
