Sree's parents thank god, supporters

Parents of cricketer S Sreesanth, who was granted bail by a Delhi court on Monday in the IPl spot-fixing case, thanked god and those who prayed for him in moments of anxiety and pain for the relief the court decision had brought.

“We heard about it just as we were coming out of the temple. We thank god and the Malayalees in Kerala and elsewhere who had been praying for our son,” said Sree’s mother Savithri Devi in Kochi on Monday evening.

Sreesanth’s father Santhakumaran Nair said, “This happened because of god’s grace. The media have been with us in our difficult moments. We expect that cooperation to continue. We don’t want to say anything else.”

Sreesanth’s brother Deepu Santhan said that the cricketer would reach Kochi most probably by Tuesday evening. Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) secretary TC Mathew said that he shared the relief of Sree’s parents and all Keralites.

“The case on spot-fixing is something that should be decided through the court proceedings. But we have already said that slapping MCOCA on him was unjust,” he said.
