SP has lost moral right to celebrate Jayanti: Mayawati

PNS

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati hit out at the ruling Samajwadi Party for celebrating Sant Ravidas birth anniversary saying that the party has lost the moral right to do so.

“It was the SP Government that reverted the name of Sant Ravidas Nagar to Bhadohi district, which was earlier done by the BSP Government.

This is a clear insult to the great social reformer,” she said in a statement released in lucknow on Monday.

Paying rich tributes to Saint Ravidas, Mayawati said that people should adopt the path shown by the great reformer and the political leaders should toe his ideologies to serve the poor and downtrodden.

Mayawati also targeted political leaders including PM Narendra Modi and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for faking reverence for the Sant and visiting the Govardhan temple. She charged the two leaders of vainly trying to get political mileage by attending the Ravidas Jayanti and woo dalits.

“Besides paying obeisance to Sant Ravidas, the leaders should also try to adopt his ideology. Only then, the poor and downtrodden of the country will benefit,” Mayawati asserted.

Thanking the people, especially the disciples of Sant Ravidas on the occasion, the BSP chief said that the Saint had propagated a message of humanity and everyone should follow it.
