Hitting out at the Samajwadi Party Government, BJP’s national president Amit Shah said that the State Government has not utilised the money the Centre has released as compensation for farmers, which has resulted in many peasants committing suicide.
“The Samajwadi Party Government is anti-farmer. It is not serious in extending help to the farmers who lost crop due to the unseasonal rain. It is blaming the Union Government for its failure when the fact is that the Akhilesh Yadav Government has not passed on the compensation the Centre had granted for the farmers,” Shah said during the concluding session of the party’s State executive meeting held in Ghaziabad on Tuesday.
He said the Modi Government has been extending relief to farmers by bringing down the crop loss from 50 per cent to 33 per cent but it is unfortunate that the UP Government has not carried out any survey of the crop loss. “Thus, farmers are deprived of precious relief money. Instead of extending full help to farmers the Samajwadi Party Government is shedding crocodile tears,” he said.
Exhorting party workers to gear up for the 2017 Assembly elections, he said that in 1950 the BJP was formed with just 10 members but now it has 1.86 crore members in UP alone.
