Sonia flays slow development in Raebareli

PNS

Expressing annoyance over the tardy pace of work in MNREGA scheme in her parliamentary constituency Rae Bareli, Congress president Sonia Gandhi flayed the BJP-led Union Government for renaming Indira Awas Yojna to Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna.

Chairing a meeting of District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee in Rae Bareli on Wednesday, Sonia was peeved at the slow pace of work and persisting drinking water problems. Directing officials to speed up the work, Gandhi was agitated on the non-selection of a single beneficiary for Pradhan Mantri Awas scheme in her constituency so far.

Sonia reviewed developmental works in the meeting for close to four hours and enquired about every project and asked the officials the reasons for the delay. The excuses offered by the officials failed to placate her. She directed that all villages facing drinking water be solved immediately and supported the objection raised by other representatives on the bad conditions of the roads.

The meeting also reviewed the central sponsored schemes of Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Srijan Yojna, Rashtriya Swastha Mission and several other welfare schemes.

Earlier on Wednesday, Gandhi held a Janata Durbar at Bhuemau guest house in which 75 delegations met her and submitted memorandum. Several locals complained about poor water supply in villages and lack of solar power system. Gandhgi assured them to look into their problems and redress them soon.

Some leaders also pleaded with her for giving them tickets in the coming Assembly polls.

Gandhi also visited the residence of City Congress committee secretary Pramod Tripathi to express her condolence on the death of his father recently.  later she left for New Delhi from Fursatganj airport.
