The day after the Congress won two bypolls for Assembly seats in Karnataka, the Congress said Modi wave was on the decline. Senior Congress leader and Karnataka in-charge Digvijay Singh on Tuesday said the so-called Modi wave was on the decline.
Addressing a Press conference in Bangalore after the meeting of the State Congress Coordination Committee, Singh said the bypoll results were an indication of decline of so-called Modi wave.
He said, “I think people have realised that they have been conned by the so called Gujarat model of development and the personality of Modi, who has done nothing in the last 70 days except to inaugurate and take credit of all the projects which the UPA Government had executed. The so called Modi wave is now on the decline, because in the bypolls, the UPA has got the clear majority.”
Singh complimented former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD chief lalu Prasad for coming together to defeat ‘communal forces’. Of the three seats in Karnataka, the Congress retained Chikkodi-Sadalga and wrested Bellary Rural from the BJP, which managed to save the Shikaripura seat. In Bihar, the BJP bagged four seats as against six by the JD(U)-RJD-Congress alliance.
Singh said the BJP defeat in the bypolls in Karnataka and Bihar had indicated that the pervasive ‘Modi Wave’ was based on lies and falsifying of facts and not a phenomena.
