Khursheed Wani

Winter has prolonged in Kashmir following incessant rain and snowfall for two days resulting in aerial and land routes cut-off to the Valley, disrupted power supply and inundated roads due to faulty drainage system. The authorities have extended winter vacations up to middle school-level till March 14, but heavy snowfall has threatened closure of all educational institutions and rescheduling of examinations. The weatherman has predicted more snowfall in next two days. The weather turned freaky on overcast Saturday morning followed by uninterrupted downpour. While in the plains it was rainfall, the upper reaches were enveloped by thick layers of snow. The snowfall continued throughout Sunday.
