Tamil Nadu is in a state of anxiety as the health condition of legendary singer S P Balasubramanyam(SPB to friends and fans) deteriorated by Thursday evening, according to the corporate hospital where he had been admitted since August 5 for Covid treatment.
“His condition in the last 24 hours has deteriorated further warranting maximal life support and his condition is extremely critical. The team of experts at MGM Healthcare are closely monitoring his health condition,” the health bulletin issued by Dr Anuradha Baskaran, Assistant Director-Medical Services, MGM Healthcare hospital said.
SPB was in a serious condition earlier this month which necessitated to put him on a ventilator and ECMO. There were prayer meetings all over Tamil Nadu which were attended by mega stars like Rajnikanth, Sarat Kumar , Kamal Haassan and others. The prayer meeting was led by music maestro Ilayaraja.
The hospital authorities had said later that SPB tested negative for Covid-19. According to his son, Charan, the great master was getting ready to watch the live matches of the IPL which are underway at UAE when his health suffered a setback.
