Former BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu on Thursday escaped unhurt during party’s election campaign meeting near Bhour camp on the outskirts of Jammu after his car was targeted with ‘lathis’ and stones by a group of slogan-shouting miscreants.

Two people were left injured in the attack as one of the front window of a commercial taxi was left broken.

The incident took place in the afternoon when Sidhu arrived here to address an election campaign meeting in support of BJP candidate Kavinder Gupta from Gandhi Nagar Assembly seat.

Due to heavy rush of BJP supporters and party workers the situation could not take ugly turn and Sidhu was escorted to safety by the security personnel after the attack.

According to official sources, a group of unidentified masked men attacked Sidhu's car to vent their ire against him. Sidhu, was accused of wrongly attributing the words of Gurbani during his speech in ludhiana last month.

Speaking to media persons after the election rally in another assembly segment unfazed Sidhu blamed Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal for hiring a bunch of youth to target his election rallies in J&K. He also advised Badal to do some introspection than targeting him in this fashion.

Sidhu was also targeted few days ago in Sanjay Nagar area of Jammu after a late evening election meeting.
