The BJP on Monday hit out at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for holding the BJP and RSS accountable for the shoe throwing incident during his road show at Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh saying it does not indulge in “such low level of politics”. The BJP said the Congress leader’s comment was reflective of his frustration.
BJP national secretary Shrikant Sharma disapproved of the incident but rejected the Congress leader’s charge that the BJP and RSS were behind the act. He said this comment points to the “low-level of politics” indulged in by the Congress. Strongly condemning Rahul’s statement, he said it reflects the Congress vice president’s “frustration” as he was not being noticed by people.
Sharma went on to say that the charge was indicative of the “mental bankruptcy”. “You are commenting so under the influen-ce of Kejriwal” and have lowered the level of discussion, he said.
Meanwhile, another BJP leader Anurag Thakur also condemned the shoe attack on Rahul , saying this is no way to convey anger against anybody.
“I condemn this... Throwing shoes, throwing ink is not a good thing,” said Thakur while comme-nting on the incident which took place during Rahul’s roadshow.
The BJP youth wing president said people can convey their views or anger, if any, through various peaceful means rather than indulging in such acts.
“India is one of the world’s largest democracies. It is a very open system where we have lot of independence, freedom of speech. So, you can convey on social media, you can convey in person and in any peaceful manner,” he said.
