Kestur Vasuki

BJP national president Amit Shah took a dig at Congress president Rahul Gandhi for meeting fodder scam convict and RJD chief lalu Prasad at AIIMS in Delhi.

Addressing an election rally at Kolar in Karnataka BJP chief said, “during UPA regime Rahul had torn the ordinance which could have saved now fodder scam convict lalu. As 2019 is approaching it seems Congress can’t win without lalu ji’s support, and today he (Rahul) met laluji (in AIIMS).” Contrary to reports Shah made it clear that lingayat strongman and BJP State president BS Yeddyurappa will be the Chief Minister if party is voted to power.

He also vehemently rejected the report which appeared in some section of the media saying that BJP will ditch Yeddyurappa after the elections. Congress is using this as a weapon and many Congress leaders are campaigning using this as an opportunity to hit at BJP. He said “Yeddyurappa has been announced as the Chief Ministerial candidate in Karnataka and he will take the helm after the Assembly polls. Some quarters opposed to the BJP are spreading this rumour, but Yeddyurappa will remain our leader in this State,’’ he said.

He also said such reports were unfounded as the party had already announced him as the Chief Ministerial candidate and if it goes back on the undertaking it will be the question of the credibility of the party. “The BJP wave is here in Karnataka. There are no tidings in favour of Congress.

“We will come to power on our own majority,’’ he claimed. Shah also said pacifying the rebel  party workers at Varuna constituency in Mysuru where the BJP had denied ticket to Yeddyurappa’s son BY Vijendra, it was the  decision  taken by the party to attack Congress party and its dynasty politics. However he said Yeddyurappa junior will come up the ladder in the party as he had bright future.

“No one denied tickets among top BJP leaders. It was a collective decision. let there be no groupism in BJP as we are an organised party,’’ he said in an appeal to party workers in Mysuru district. After denial of ticket to Yeddyurappa’s son Vijendra from Varuna constituency angry supporters ransacked the BJP office in Mysuru and other places. It was Yeddyurappa after the high command’s decision announced the news in a rally at Nanjanagudu and he had to face the wrath of the party workers.

Congress party using this as major issue and some of the and cabinet colleagues of Siddaramaiah who are contesting are saying that BJP would dump Yeddyurappa after the elections.

This is as a strategy openly asking lingayats not to vote for the BJP. lingayats a dominant community in Karnataka with over 17 percent of the population has decisive majority in over 65 constituencies across the state.

In another development Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hit the campaign trail in poll bound Karnataka from Tuesday. The party is depending on Modi’s charisma and Amit Shah’s strategy to make it Congress Mukth Karnataka.

The party has already named Yeddyurappa as the chief ministerial candidate and he is fighting tooth and nail to make sure congress is defeated.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who launches his latest election campaign for May 12 election in Karnataka from Tuesday by addressing a public rally at Santhemaranahalli in Chamarajanagra Taluk, is the third Prime Minister to visit this district after late Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. According to party sources  Modi during his tour  will take part in 15 rallies across the State. Meanwhile once again Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has alleged that both BJP and JD(S) and partners and have secret pact. Talking to reporters, Siddaramaiah said in Belagavi that he can prove that BJP chief Amit Shah and JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy travelled together to Delhi to meet several leaders.

Siddaramaiah said he would make the proof of Shah-Kumaraswamy visit and meetings public at an appropriate time. In response to Siddaramiah’s claim, the JD(S) has released “fake” document to “prove” the Karnataka CM travelled with BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan, who ditched JD(S) to join the Congress.
