Apart from rooting for an impartial enquiry into Jalgaon Dalit atrocity incident, the ruling Shiv Sena on Friday demanded to know from the Maharashtra as to whether the well belonging to upper-caste family at Wakadi village in Jamner taluka of Jalgaon district had been taken over the district administration for public use during summer months, as it was normally the case.

In a memorandum submitted to Minister of State for Home (Rural) Deepak Kesarkar after the Wakadi village,  Sena’s deputy leader and spokesperson Neelam Gorhe said: “Normally during summer months, the district administration takes over all the private wells in their area for public use. We would like to know from the state government if the district administration had taken over the well belonging to one  Ishwar Balwant Joshi, in which the three Dalit boys swam only to be whipped by his employee. Or was Joshi’s well supposed to be made taken over for public useIJ”.

“Secondly, through our memorandum, we have demanded that an impartial inquiry be ordered into the incident. We have asked the state government to include the Jalgaon-based social worker Vasanti Dighe of the Democratic Citizens’ Front,” she said.
