Second accused of the sensational robbery in Tanishq Jewel store in Hyderabad G Anand was arrested in Mangalagiri in Guntur district and produced before the media on Wednesday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Satyanarayana told the reporters that Anand has revealed more details of the crime committed by him and his aide B Kiran Kumar. “He was picked up from his hideout in Mangalagiri on the basis of information provided by his brother and other family members,” the officer said.
Earlier, the kingpin of the biggest gold heist Kiran Kumar had surrendered to the police with the help of a local TV channel on Monday. He had revealed the involvement of his friend, a polio afflicted Anand in the crime in the wee hours of Saturday.
The duo had baffled the police and people by drilling a hole in the backside wall of the shop in a high security area very near to the residence of the CM and decamping with gold and diamond jewellery.
The duo revealed that the crime was committed after two-month long reconnaissance of many jewellery shops. During this period Kiran Kumar stayed at the IAS Officers Association Office next to the Chief Minister’s residence taking care of its swimming pool. later he did the same job at Family World resort in Begumpet and stayed in a room in nearby Rasoolpura area. He had asked his friend Anand to join in Hyderabad 10 days before the robbery.
