Scam, syndicate, violence mark Mamata raj, says Arun Jaitley

Close on the heels of Mamata Banerjee hitting out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi warning to “mind your language as I am not your servant,” Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Sunday mounted a scathing attack on the Bengal Chief Minister for running an undemocratic regime riddled with violence and tainted by scams.

Attacking the Chief Minister for ordering an intra-Trinamool probe into the Narada scam, Jaitley wondered how an internal inquiry of the Trinamool Congress would take care of a criminal offence punishable under criminal laws.

“Bribery is a violation of criminal law. How can a political party take action on offences punishable under criminal law. After the probe they can only turn out the respective leaders but this will not address the criminal aspect of it,” Jaitley said adding the State Government could have ordered a CBI or police investigation if its intentions were right.

A day after the Prime Minister criticised Banerjee for making “adjustment” with corruption the Chief Minister said, “Modi Babu can put me behind the bars and I can even win from there, but he has no right to use the kind of language he has used against me,” adding, “I warn the Prime Minister against using such languages as I am not your servant. In Bengal even servants are treated with respect.”

Hitting back at Banerjee Jaitley said while the left Front had ruined Bengal in 34 years of its rule TMC’s rule was marked by “corruption, fear psychosis (created among voters) and syndicate raj.”

“The name of every other leader of that party is getting tainted when a scam unfolds” he said adding the Government can do away with such a vice only with good governance but that was not to be in Bengal.
