PNS

The Supreme Court will hear on Thursday a petition by Centre challenging the remission granted by Tamil Nadu Government to all killers of Rajiv Gandhi. The Centre approached the apex court through ASG Sidharth luthra to restrain the State Government from releasing the four remaining convicts, serving life term. They are Nalini, Robert Pious, Jayakumar and Ravichandran.

On February 20, Court had restrained release of three convicts-Murugan, Santhan and Arivu, whose death sentence was commuted to life by the SC last week. The bench headed by Chief Justice P Sathasivam fixed the matter for hearing on Thursday. The Jayalalithaa Government had on February 19 decided to set free all the seven convicts in the assassination case.
