SC to hear Aadhaar pleas on Oct 14

PNS

The petitions challenging Aadhaar scheme will be heard by Constitution Bench of Supreme Court on Wednesday, October 14. This decision was taken by CJI Hl Dattu on Thursday after Attorney General Mukul Rohtagi made a request to list the case urgently for considering an interim demand by Centre to apply Aadhaar to all social benefit schemes and services on a voluntary basis.

On Wednesday, a three-judge Bench had asked Centre to approach the Constitution Bench for any interim orders as it noted that the controversy around Aadhaar concerning citizens’ privacy was already pending before the Constitution Bench.
